Post by: karelm on January 28, 2008, 05:53:30 PM
Hi,
Going to spend a couple of days in Amsterdam soon....any ideas where to go for paperweights.
Not really intrested in dealers but more in flea markets secondhand shops etc.  We will be staying in central Amsterdam.
Kind regards

Since nobody else answers....

I'm afraid Amsterdam isn't really going to offer very much.

There is a flea market on The Noordermarkt on Monday morning, but otherwise you'd better indulge some other hobby during your visit!

The last antiques shops have now been driven from the city! And the trade today is basically 'online' (or outside Amsterdam!)

Hi Karelm,

There are a couple of shops but junk shop is appropriate. The flea market is slowly turning to a rag market. There is the Looier and anything ID'd is way above eBay's level. The rest of the shops are generally very pricey. Nice one that has really early engraved dutch glass $$$ and the remainder are real olde worlde 'antiques'. You are welcome to drop by for coffee. Contact me via the envelope for details.
