For interest - a tall chimney shape vase with a silver and black Alvesta Glasbruk label.
Perhaps this can be added to the labels section if you are looking in Anne ;)
Does anyone know anything about the company? Alvesta is a city in Sweden, but nothing comes up for the glass company.
TIA ;D

Based in Småland, production ran between 1932/33 - 1977. All I've been able to find out.
Oh, a bit of Googling revealed that a chap called Sven Joann designed glass for them, as well as Skrufs, during the 1950s. Might not be relevant, though.

A quick search shows this glassworks started in 1931 and closed in 1977.
Not much more information available. You might want to check with the Glass Museum in Sweden. They have an extensive collection of functional glass from a large variety of glass works in Sweden

Three different start dates! :D
The website of the Småland museum gives 1933: http://www.smalandsmuseum.se/Glas/glas_verktyg.html
And this list of Swedish glassworks puts it at 1932: http://www.glafo.se/pdf/2007/Glasteknisk%20tidskrift%203%20-99%20s%2077-84.pdf
At least there's no controversy over the year of closure.
