Title: Glass paperweight corkscrew
Post by: josordoni on October 02, 2006, 10:30:50 AM
This ebay listing belongs to a friend of mine, does anyone know who makes these corkscrews - looking at when she bought it, it is quite nice quality, I wondered Strathearn?

This is definitely Scottish - Vasart or Strathearn. I am not expert enough to determine which but if you go to Frank's excellent website www.ysartglass.com and look under Vasart Strathearn in the section marked Barware you will see the range of items including this one. I am currently selling a bottle opener and a pourer from this range on Ebay.

Yep, Vsart/Strahearn and very, very cool. Another fascinating aspect of collecting. The whole glass paperweight and related items field never ceases to amaze me. Scotland and the U.K. must be a treasure trove of glass paperweight and paperweight-style colletibles. Most of the Scottish paperweight makers especially, were - and are - incredible talents.

Thanks all, I've passed the info onto her, and suggested she attributes it correctly in her auction.
