Hi, I dont have many paperweights, but I picked up 2 Caithness paperweights today, one is marked CG on the base, the other has no markings but they came as a pair and look to be made by the same maker ( i'm guessing, I have no real idea! ) I have been through all the Caithness weights on the Scottish Glass web site but I couldnt find any that I thought matched. Could anyone help me ID this one, its got 4 large bubbles, its a kind of black/brown with orange. Its marked CG on the base and has been acid etched about 1cm up right round the base.
Thanks in advance for any info.
Cheers, David

Hi, I thought I'd have a wee check on eBay, and there are loads of these PW's called Moonflower for sale. Thanks for looking anyway guys and gals
-
Looks like a Colin Terris 'Moonflower' to me,I maybe wrong :o ;D ;D
-
Beat me to it! ;D
-
But it's probably a second, as Moonflower wasn't etched. Does it say CG2?
-
Hi, no its the large etch CG on the base, but defo no moonflower marked, thanks both of you for looking, what about the other one!! ;D
-
I seem to remember reading somewhere that there have been more Moonflowers made than any other 'named' design.
Moonflower probably also holds the paperweight record for 'variations on a theme' as well. I should know, I've been trying to collect all the variations. Well over 40 so far (see attached - that's not all of them) and still some to go...
One of my favourite designs (fortunately!).

Bah, forgot to attach a more close-up pic....
-
WOW, that is some collection of the same weight!! Thanks for the info ;D
-
Yes, I never realised there were so many when I started. Next, I think I'll collect, 'ones that are more-or-less round'..... :D

Hmmm .... try this one (http://www.scotlandsglass.co.uk/cms/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=3895&category_id=37&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=6) (as one of the many Moonflower colourways).

Yep, I realised I must have missed it when I had a quick look at EBay and saw how common it was, I did go back and find it! Still can't find the other one though ???
