Title: Whitefriars Powells Glass Paperweight
Post by: daveweight on July 17, 2011, 12:03:39 PM
Following some of the recent topics on Whitefriars Glass/Paperweights, I thought it might be interesting to post this picture of a weight I bought which seems to be advertising Powells Whitefriars English Glass. I got it from Ohio and it is a typical American plaque weight with a spattered ground below the plate but I have no idea as to how old it might be. I am puzzled as to why an American maker would make a weight advertsing an English glass company but it is an interesting piece I think

Thanks for your comments but I guess the origins of this weight and why it was made will reamin a mystery, it is an interesting one and here is a picture showing the base better
