Hi all,
I picked this up a few weeks ago in a mixed lot, and would love to know if it's possible to ID it. Or is it a Chinese weight? It's about 8.5cm tall.

Many thanks, John.

This could indeed be a Chinese weight, John. Or Scandi, or pretty much anyone else! ::)
A picture of the base might help, if you would be so kind :)

Hi Leni, and thanks. There's actually a link to a picture of the base in my original posting, beneath the picture of the weight ~ I thought of everything! ;)

DOH! ::) :-[ Pay attention, Leni! ;)
Well, from the base I would say probably not Chinese, although the most recent Chinese weights do in fact have polished bases. In retrospect however, I don't think the Chinese do pink glass all that much.
So it could well be ...... anyone else! ;D ;)
Sorry! :)

hi
nice weight....IF Chinese-not the newer "cheap" stuff. much nicer than those..I really can't ID-but just putting in my 2 cents.

Thank you both :)
Asked about it as it came in a 'mixed lot' which included Selkirk and Mdina weights, a Chessell Pottery vase and an Aqua WF duck amongst other items so wondered if it might be similar quality.
It'll probably be going on the 'haven't got a clue, but like it very much' shelf!
Unless anyone knows any different...?
Cheers, John.

I think it could be Czech, Bohemian glass. It's not the same shape, but I have seen them in the shape you have recently, but can't find it now (edit: found similar). This was the closest I could get:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330084978469 found this too...same shape, different bubbles.
A possibility perhaps :)

Thanks very much Max ~ looks promising and will dig some more in that direction.
Will sign up with GlassGallery and do the next one there (or even change this one when I've got a moment).
Cheers, John.

Methinks the Czech weights are a higher quality of bubble skill.

Height's a bit different too...but same colour and shape. The previous one I saw was (from memory) made with different length, long bubbles. ???
Still think it's a contender. :)
