Title: Is this a small concentric Strathearn millefiori please? firepolished base
Post by: flying free on August 29, 2012, 03:04:24 PM
I'm lost. I thought because it was so neat it might be Perthshire but now think it is an earlier  small Strathearn concentric - I've not been able to match the canes and the ones I've looked at don't seem to be quite as neat, although the arrangement of them matches I think. There is a dark blue maltese cross in the middle of the outer row canes which are beige with the aubergine centre and the way the centres are done in the row surrounding the central cane looks Strathearn 'y' to me?
It has a firepolished base and the canes are set on a very dark blue base all very neatly arranged.  Nice colours of pinks and aubergines and yellows.  It measures 1 1/2" wide and 1 1/4" high.
All help much appreciated.
Many thanks  :)

Hi.

Yes - a mini Strathearn - very pretty.  Many of these minis are very neat, and sometimes have really crisp canes.

Thanks Alan - yes 'crisp' is the word I was looking for  thanks  :)  I love that every alternate cane on the outer ring is slightly sparkly on the sides as well.  It's quite 'intricate' in it's own way.

Here is a selection of these miniature weights and it is interesting to note the variety of designs
