I know absolutely zero about pressed glass, but Ivo's book has an Sv Sidonie: pressed glass in Slovakia.  I suppose the Sv is a shortening of a name, and probably not what you're looking for - ah well...I tried to help!   :D

Hope I don't look too silly for suggesting this.   :oops:  :oops:

Among milk glass collectors, the mark "SV" is presumed to be a mark of Vallerysthal and possibly stand for Societe Vallerysthal.  However, I have never seen any definitive proof.

the SV that everybody is looking for is 99% certain French - and it is unlikely to be Valérysthal who used either Valérysthal in full, or PV for Portieux-Valérysthal. The mystery remains.
The Sv. in the Slovakian factory name is the Slavonic abbreviation for Sveti - Saint, so that does not bring us any closer. Thanks Max for looking it up.

This does not identify the S V marking, but just adds to the list of glass out there with the marking shown on it.  This ice bucket is made from uranium/vaseline glass and the inset photo shows the SV mark on the inside bottom.  It is 5" in diameter and 4 3/4" tall. The mold work shows tremendous detail on it!
