Two Caithness vases bought today with Warbler design - no CT183 by Denis Mann 1972 - converted from wheel engraving to sanblasting by Gordon Hendry 1976 - one marked Warbler with signiture and one with other markings - one peat the other with heather hues.
Thanks Adam

I notiice one of these vases is wheel engraved, the other sandblasted - pics show distinct differences
Is that right?

The engraver/sandblaster mark under "Warbler" will be LK = Lorraine Keith.
The other is Either "J Mc"= John MacDonald - my vote
OR perhaps "I Mc" = Irene McCoughie.
From Mark Hill's Caithness Galss book page 101.

PS. Mine is in Peat and engraved by Elaine Swanson.

Both look sandblasted to me, detail level will vary with each piece and engraver. Caithness is recent enough and produced in sufficient quantities that you could easily write a research paper on this one design alone if you gathered more examples. Probably a step too far for most glass collectors but in the process you would learn a lot about methods etc.
