Title: Thomas Webb Bronze Glass?
Post by: dirk. on September 07, 2010, 05:23:40 PM
Hi!

This little vase has just arrived and made my day. We've had some similar vases last year, see:
http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,26889.0.html
Although the technique seems identical there are slight differences to the ones in the earlier thread.
The glass is a dark bottle green and the base has a concave ground out pontil mark. I understand
from Glen's article about Webb's Bronze that this would be the right colour.
http://www.geocities.com/carni_glass_uk_2000/WebbBronze.html

It's ca. 3 inches (7.5cm) in diameter with a bit less in height.

Any thoughts eagerly anticipated.

TIA,
Dirk

Many, many thanks JP!  That's great news! It's my 2nd confirmed piece of Webb then - much desirable, not at least
as their beauty takes so little space, which helps me keep an open trail between bed and kitchen.  :chky:

Dirk, that is an attractive little vase... again, very tactile.  And it must look extra-beautiful when held up to the sunlight.  It's a wonderful find.  :)

Thanks, Anik! It was love at first sight. I admire how very modern it must have looked at that time although it's referring to ancient glass. Must have been really avant garde among all those sprouting and flowering art nouveau designs or the historistic ones. Erm, well, when you compare it with a truffle it's still kind of vegetable....  ;D
