Title: Could this be Monart? - ID = Nazeing
Post by: david-dj on February 27, 2005, 10:23:09 PM
Could someone please help me to identify this. Is this Monart/Vasart?  Its 25cm high with ground concave pontil. I've had this piece for ages but recently found a similar shape and pattern in an old Liberty's catalogue the advert was for Monart. Any help would be appreciated.

Oh dear, I am getting foggy.

It is a 1930's Nazeing Glass Funnel Vase No 37/55. The decoration is called Lattice effect.

These are considered rare because what ones have surfaced are not well recognised. Should do well if you wanted to sell. But no idea how much, it depends on the audience.

Could I use the images for the site please? I am building a page of Nazeing images to go with the article.

You can see your shape in one of the catalogues showing in the article LINK (http://www.voloeditions.com/Otherglass/Nazeing.htm) although not with this decoration. That URL will be changing soon to ysartglass.com

Also, which Liberty catalogue was it shown in?

I have quite a few Liberty catalogues showing Monart HERE (http://www.ysartglass.com/Liberty/Libertycat29.htm) but not with this shape. Perhaps you can fill another gap  :)
Title: Thanks for the id.

Frank
Thanks for identifying the vase. I did wonder if it might be Nazeing but ive seen very little of it. I know of the 90's book but is there a web site with info/ pictures on it?
I'll look for the Liberty catalogue and send details.
Please do use the pictures.
Thanks
David.

Hi David,

Mine is the only place. It will get updated this year though.

David,

Does your splendid vase have a rolled or folded rim?   If so, inwards or outwards?

I am green with envy at your marvellous find.

There's a good example of blue and white Nazeing 'Lattice' ware 'Tapering Vase' on the front cover of Geoff's book.  We also used two examples of Lattice, one a green decorated vase, the other a bowl in sherwood green and white, within the group picture used for the poster to the Exhibition. N.
