Title: Help id this pressed glass plate please
Post by: mhgcgolfclub on November 27, 2012, 07:13:03 PM
Pressed glass plate I believe to be Victorian and most likely British but not 100% sure . I have a similar design made by Henry Greener although this plate is not marked or signed.

Basket weave design to the center with two rope twists in relief on the top of the plate so not really practical to be used , I would say more for display.Floral design to the outside.

Diameter 10" / 26cm and weighs 820gm

Thanks for any help Roy

Made at Dalzell, Gilmore and Leighton in Findlay, Ohio (USA) in the 1880s-90s, this plate is called "Floral Fence" by collectors. Fragments were dug at the factory site, so the attribution is solid. I would really like to see a photo of the similar Greener piece you have.

James

Thank you very much for the positive ID. I bought it an an antique fair today for £2.00 as I collect a lot of clear / flint Victorian pressed glass. I did think it may be from the USA if not English but decided in favour of English .

Pictures of 3 pieces of Henry greener pieces which are registered around 1876 with a similar floral pattern which seemed similar to me at the time.

Thanks again Roy
