Title: Small olive coloured bowl for id - Whitefriars?
Post by: yesvil on October 21, 2012, 02:12:27 PM
I found this lovely little bowl on my travels and wonder what it is. The colour I have called olive but it is quite yellowy and seems to be unevenly mixed within the body of the glass? is that possible? Underneath the pontil mark is a polished and circular.

The height is 50mm and the width (top) is 125mm

Not Whitefriars. I would guess English though and very closely related to this one

Have you tested it with a UV light?

The colour might be unevenly mixed but that's generally only seen with semi-opaque glass. It might just be thickness variations and the ribbing that give an apparent effect

At first I thought it was just that but if you look at this picture you can see the colour in lines diagonally across the ribbing. I haven't tried it for uranium yet - all my worldly goods are in storage atm.
