defo fake, and the age process to the base is terrible

Another copy of the signature from my site, going by the wording of the auction the seller seems to recognise it is not genuine but basically leaves it to the bidders to decide.
I suppose some people will be interested in buying is as a drawing of a signature of Paul Ysart that is also on someones paperweight. I imagine the artist had greasy, slippery fingers and used coarse emery on the base to make it easier to grip whilst signing ;)
But seriously, can anyone identify the maker of the weight... Selkirk has been suggested...

I think that weight is Alum Bay, i have had one very similar
-
How were Alum Bay marked usually?
-
Alum Bay had an impressed mark "AB" - sometimes very hard to see the details. They also used a paper label. I don't know whether or not some items were unmarked.
I thought we had an older mesaage where the Alum Bay (and Isle of Wight) logos were discussed and some images were inlcluded. But I can't find it. And I can't find the images I took of my weight the the AB logo + paper label - the weight is also of the "swirly" type.

Thanks Anne.
Here's three of the images now in the Glass Gallery (originals being Tinypic ones):
Alum Bay weight (http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pos=-6487), the one on the right
Alum Bay label (http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pos=-6489)
Alum Bay "AB" logo (http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pos=-6488) (not too clear - you might need to stare at it for a few seconds to see the lettering!)

"snip"not too clear - you might need to stare at it for a few seconds to see the lettering!"snip"
I stared...it became a 3D image of my moter-in-law. I left.

Clearly not the same as the eBay one...

I saw an eagles head...
My latest Alum Bay JIP vase has no marks, but is exactly the same as one on the AB site.

The weight i had, had no mark but did have the lable.

Hi Sue, I reckon mine probably had the label too, but it got washed off.
-
Hi Lynne, that's what normally happens, did alum bay use more than one lable? i have this nagging feeling i once saw one in black, but it could easily be another studio.
-
For clarity I have produced a version of my AB logo photo with outlines (http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pos=-6501). The blue dashes show the outer edge of the impressed area. The black dashes show the edges of the raised internal bits. The yellow dashed line shows where the A and B are joined to make one overall shape.
Hopefully, this will help dispel tricks-of-the-mind showing the likes of in-laws etc. ;D

Oh Wow! I can see an elephant now.... :o
-
OK!
Now I see it!!!
....but it does also look like my mother-in-law when she is shouting at me to get her another G&T and wearing a funny hat ;D
