I've been to all my local Charity shops and I came back with three glass items.
This one is a Holmegaard style vase (£2).

Schott, Zwiesel Glasses boxed (£3). I knew this company was related to Jena in some way. I'm not certian of age or value (if any).

A Marcel Franck perfume dispenser (10p!). Some ware to the gilding on the front. I bought it because of it's quality. I know very little about him/her but he/she seems to be popular on eBay.

I just want to say how much I appreciate everybody helping me on this board. :D
Not that I'm leaving though, but you never know.
THANK YOU

Can you do a picture of one of the glasses out of the box please?
I do like the perfume bottle. Not my usual sort of thing but there you go. ;)

Cheers!

The box looks 70ies and later to me and so do the glasses, a very fashionable shape for champaign at that time :? My wine glasses came in a similar box.
Zwiesel is a town in Bavaria situated at the so called 'Glas-Strasse' (glass road)next to Czech boarder. Neighbours are Theresienthal, Frauenau etc.

Thanks Pamela, I wasn't sure why the box was in such a good condition. I almost thought it was new. I think the previous owner must have stored it an attic - away from the sunlight. :)
On the box it has the words "noble critallin", "Edles Kristallglas" and "Superb crystal". I presume that mean's it was made for England and Germany as well.
There is a paper label on the side which reads "6 schalen, parma 2801, glatt/fest"
I've just noticed some very small words and numbers that might be a date: "ss+p 17/1/74".
The glasses/bowls are approx 4 inches high and approx 3 and a half inches in diameter.

In Germany they also call 'champagne' glasses of certain format (low) as "Sektschalen" (Sekt being the German "bubbly" as you probably all know), so I would assume that those were meant for drinking sekt. I recall reading somewhere (or seeing in the telly) that different type of "bubbly" requires different kind of glasses to be of its best.
TMaritta

happy to read tmaritta and I can confirm the word SEKT-SCHALEN - fashionable in the 70ies and a crime to offer Champagner in them
I've read a little this afternoon concerning Schott/Jena/Zwiesel and found out the following:
Otto Schott joined Carl Zeiss in Jena (former GDR) in 1881
After WWII the Americans brought the specialists in glass from Jena to Zwiesel (read above) where Jena already had their 'Coloured Glass' works.
After Schott established in Mainz (another westgerman city) Schott Zwiesel returned to production of crystal and household glass - no longer glasses for industry, war, microscopes etc.
I lack a lot of words in English - sorry!
-
Pamela, If you hadn't indicated that you weren't english, I would never have noticed. :o
So Jena is a place name.
Thank you for the info Pamela, you're brighter than a star. :D

Tigerchips,
The main designer of Zwiesel stemware in the 70s & 80s seems to have been Wilhelm Kuchler; he retired in 1986. (That's from the Lesley Jackson book).
