hello out there!
a very recent purchase... lovely vase and it´s got a label! (added to GG of course)
Czechoslovakia, the letter H in front of a stylised bowl and a small star
design and base look quite sklo-ish and ´H´ would fit.
Can anyone(!) give some further information/suggestions, pls?
TIA

oooh I like that Dirk! I'd call it Sklo Union since it's got a Czech label, is a known SU colour and the rim finish is consistent with SU production. If you need to know more (i.e. exactly which factory, designer etc) then you'd probably need Marcus to take a look but a guess would be Hermanova Hut (just because your label has an H on it!).

hi Pip!
marcus informed me it´s definetly SU, designer and pattern number
unfortunately unkown. (he´s been making me a bit proud by asking
for a picture of the label...)

so - thanks to Jindrich as well! may i ask, if you´re from Czech Republic, too?
it´s great, that this board seems to become more and more international.

Dirk, I just talked to Marcus on the phone and he's a little worried about this attribution without seeing the source of it.

ID make Mr. František Vízner, Mrs. Liběna Víznerová was his first wife. This vase is one of two or free pieces, which Mrs. Váznerová designed.
Mr. Vizner said it to Mr. Jindra, he said it to Martina an shee said it to me. We have the same vase in the blue colour. This is my only source, i think, that Marcus Newhall has seen Mr. František Vízner before :-)
Because i often seek here ID, i take for granted write when as is happens and i something know.

Thanks for taking the time to add the extra info, much appreciated. I'll let Marcus know. :)

For info, it many knows, Mrs. Laděna Víznerová designed paucity pressed glass, but her domain is famous design of glass jewellery.

Back on GMB,
dear collegues and friend, last few weeks I was very busy in my regular job, so I could not participate in discussions here.
First bad news
Thanks to Marcus Newhall famous book, Czechoslovakian pressed glass becames to be very popular and collectable and hence also more expensive here in Czech republic. I know personaly 5 - 6 skilled and very tough pressed glass "hunters", timee when was possible to buy excellent pieces for nuts is definitely over.
Well, now good news. I am in touch with Frantisek Vizner and finaly we have summarised all his pressed glass designs. So I can disclose now the confirmed information: together had been realised 45 different Vizner's designs (I do not take into account colour variants and sizes), all of shapes we have documented, dated and exactly attributted. Naturaly Frantisek had designed much more pressed glass pieces, but not all had been fabricated. So in case of doubts about F.V. pieces, ask me here or directly to my eMail.

Great to hear this Jindrich. If requests and replies can be made on the board (in the GLASS forum please) then we'll have a permanent record of them available on line too. (Mods will move topics to Czech as new posts cannot be made into Resolved forums, members can reply to existing posts though.)
