Title: Amber jug with polished pontil
Post by: turnip45 on March 03, 2008, 07:01:26 PM
I am told that this was a very special jug only to be used on such occasions.  It's certainly built for strength and endurance plus, capable of holding two and a half pints of liquid.  The jug is a beautiful molten amber colour standing 19 Cm's high and 15 Cm's across.  It has a very centralised neat pontil and the customary odd bubble.  The condition of the jug is admirable other than the usual expected base wear.  Anybody out there any ideas on make and year.  By the colour and feel I would say Whitefriar however, it doesn't appear in any of their known catalogues. Thanks.
