Title: Littleton Glass
Post by: chuggy on November 12, 2005, 03:04:03 PM
I'd like to share this little gem which I bought a few weeks ago on a speculative whim. It was sold as being by the great American glass maestro Harvey Littleton and is signed Littleton 1963. It was sent over with Sam Herman (well known glass artist) as a token gift to the late Helen Munro Turner, with whom Littleton placed his student as part of his year touring, and was sold off earlier this year when a number of items from the collection of Helen Turner and her partner John Lawrie were disposed of.
I contacted Ellen Fischer at the Littleton Collection at Fort Pierce in Florida who very kindly contacted Harvey Littleton who not only remembered the piece and confirmed it's history but also related an amusing tale about when Dr and Mrs Turner visited his family in Corning New York.
One of the highlights of my collection and now here to be shared and enjoyed. It measures just 3.75" tall.
