Title: identifying a weight on e-bay
Post by: dfernbach on March 23, 2006, 06:50:07 PM
You folks are just SOOO good, I'm sure you can help me again.
I put a weight on e-bay this morning

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7401482181&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

I hope this link will get you there, otherwise you can do a search on "concentric millefiori paperweight".

Simone thinks it's either a Strathearn or a Vasart.
Can anyone give a more certain opinion?
Thanks

It's either Vasart or Strathearn.

Without a UV check, it's not possible to get a decent idea of which period it may be. Certainly, it can't be easily dated from the canes and general setting alone. The finish of the base could suggest the earlier years of Vasart - but it's all a bit subjective really.

Best left as is.

By the way Don, in some of your listings you kindly refer to here as the source of some of the comments and views - but this is not the "ysartglass.com forums" ... it's The Glass Message Board.

I will point people in the right direction from now on.

As always, thank you for sharing your knowledge!

The Ysart Glass forum is kindly hoste by Angela Bowey as part of The Glass Message Board. Ysartglass is my site but here I am just a hanger-on. I am not great expert on canes and most of the paperweight knowledge on Ysartglass is from Kevin and other Ysart researchers - I just do the coding.

I recognised the torsade on your weight as it was used in my favourite PY snake.
