had a brilliant day picking up bargains (All glass items !!) and came across these two blue items a bowl and matching vase, when I got them home I realised they fitted together to form a centrepiece. Does anyone know who made them ? I have had a look at Brockwitz and Walther catalogues but no luck so far.
-
This is no help at all but had to say I have seen a number of 'vases' with that style of foot and the bowls but never crossed my mind they fitted like that. It is a very effective piece. We live and learn. Can you add a picture of the base of the bowl please so I can see how they fit together. Thanks. Pete

I have seen victorian celery & sald bowls that fit like this, my mam has one. There are two deep grooves under the bowl for the foot of the vase to fit in quite securely. :)
-
Ooops! That should have said SALAD bowl...
-
This is a fascinating piece - thank you for sharing!
A very close match to the bowl is Rosice 1958 page 8 # 2939, please see Newhall CD
There are certain similarities in design to Brockwitz # 9086 (http://www.glas-musterbuch.de/Brockwitz-1941.86+B6YmFja1BJRD04NiZwcm9kdWN0SUQ9MzcyNCZwaWRfcHJvZHVjdD04NiZkZXRhaWw9.0.html) but Rosice it is, I believe.
Vase not found yet, sorry.

Thanks Pamela, I will get my Newhall cd out now and have a look. I am very pleased with my find and such a gorgeous shade of blue ;D
-
Big thank you Pamela just looked up my Newhall CD and found this bowl as you said but also managed to identify two other pieces I have !! ;D

I really like the simplicity of the design and would imagine that not many survived as a pair. What was the name of the maker ? As I said I have seen a few of the vase/stand part, one big piece in amber that had a curved foot, and will really keep my eyes open a bit more now. If only I could remember where I saw the bleedin amber one !! Time to retrace my steps... Pete

Oh how lovely is that.
I saw acouple listed on ebay today, must say that the vase looked strange to me as that was all that was listed.
It just didn't seem to sit right,now i know why,very impressed,thank-you!

Pete, are you thinking of this Stolzle vase which is very similar ? Unfortunately I haven't got a bowl to try it :) Pamela has found my blue bowl in the Rosice 1958 catalogue possibly the vase was in an earlier catalogue and it went out of fashion.
-
Hi
The blue vase looks very similar to Walthers Breslau vase.

Do you have a picture of that vase please ?

Hi
I don't myself but I am sure Pamela has on her website. If you look under Walther you should see it.

That seems to be the one I have seen along with a large bowl one with a similar foot and a flatter rim. I have very little room to store pieces so I usually only buy what I can sell on and tend to leave most big pieces alone. I think I am in serious trouble of becoming a collector as I am squirrelling away a few pieces I like and seem to have a few pieces that haven't been listed for some reason. ;D and will probably see if I can get a nice centrepiece together as the amber looks good in sunlight . Thanks for putting the pictures up.

These are Walther BRESLAU (http://pressglas-pavillon.de/vasen/06490.html) with a round base and is pictured upside down, carrying a completely different bowl in their 1935 catalogue page 135
-
How interesting, I often wondered about the foot designs on those vases, thanks for sharing. :)
-
Pamela if you want to use pictures of these two pieces for your website you are very welcome. :)
-
The one i saw i'm sure was in amber, tried to find it again & cant :( must say that the blue shows far better, lovely.
And the base was higher than the amber shown on page 1 so i think it was the right base for this sortta pice.

Vase also absent in Inwald catalogue.

Thanks Pamela, it is exactly like the bowl. Glad you like the images it is very nice to see them on your website ;D ....I am looking for a Stolzles bowl to try the same with that vase with the arched foot. ;)
-
Finally managed to get a Stolzle bowl to go with my vase and it fits together to form a centrepiece exactly like the blue one :)
