Title: pomegranate paperweight signed

got this one off ebay and just came today, it very well made and measures 2.25" across and 2" high the base is very well polished , but who made it , i dont know who's the signature is anyone know? taken two shot's of the sig cause i dont know which way round it's ment to be

Hi Ray, I was watching this, but fell asleep when it came up.  :D

The signature looks like Gozo, which is in Malta.

I read Gozo San and thought, Hey!  The Chinese are starting to sign their paperweights!   :D

Maybe not, it oozes quality and now you have a probable ID, they still active? If yes, get more info from them.

On a technical point, the overlay colouring was done using powdered glass rather than a gathered / blown overlay cup method. This is the reason for the "fuzzy" edges of the yellow and white where it was cut through on the base.

Although this method of overlay is generally not as skillful or as good to look at as the cup method, it is how Paul Ysart made his overlay weights, which are a) very rare and b) very expensive to buy!
