Bought two pieces of what I think might be early Mdina from the same seller today. either that or this was in a batch of seconds which escaped !
First is a sidestripe vase - but really not well made. the button top is very misshapen - and it is not damaged - it is how it has been made. It is much shorter and more squat that a later one I have. There are various marks on the glass - from the making process I assume - both flattened sides have a series of circles - as if it has been flattened on to something as it was cooling - (which I am sure it was to shape it) There are also a series of "sun ray" marks - about 3 inches long - they are not sharp but again part of the making process I think. Also the "clear" glass of the sidestripe seems to have a distinct greenish cast - more marked that on the later one. At the neck - where the side stripe ends, there is a piece of clear glass at each side of the neck - where the stripe has not been removed properly. They look almost like "ears" but are not pulled.
Can anyone confirm if it is early - and approximate date period please? It is 14.5 cm ( 5 3/4 inches ) wide. 12.5 cm or 5 inches tall. Width varies - max 6 cm at the shoulders.
All in all a bit of an oddity which intrigued me! Have taken lots of photos so will load them all in several posts - sorry if I overload!

Very early.
Perhaps not '68, maybe '69 or '70?

Oh Good ;D - I hoped so! . Any chance it was made by Michael Harris do you think or is by one of his apprentices more likely?

Jak,
That's a great example of an early side stripe, love the slightly off centre button rim and colour.
Certainly could well be by Harris, certainly the right time frame.
Few pics in the link below of my one. The later side stripes aren't a patch on these early ones.

I honestly can't say. But I can't rule it out either.
John's got a big, flattened Japanese Globe - it's got the same cracks radiating out from flattening it on the marver - so it was made before whoever-made-it managed to get that quite right.

Lovely sidestripe Jakgene.
Here is that flattened globe that Sue mentioned (with a photo of the concentric circles and radial lines): http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,32132.0.html

Thanks John - yes, lovely vase, and that is exactly like the marks on this one. I do like mine - makes the other bog standard one look boring - this one has character :bat:
Thanks again to all
