Title: Cesari/Cesare? info please
Post by: John Smith on January 14, 2013, 01:01:41 AM
Can anybody steer me towards history/information please about the French opalescent glass of Cesari...
I Google search, but am constantly swamped with bottles of CESARI wine!  ???
Many thanks in advance. John

Sorry if this has been posted on the wrong listing...

Cesari was almost certainly made at Choisy-le-Roi. I've had several pieces marked 'Cesari' which are identical to Etling patterns in both design and finish.

Thank You Steven...

Can you direct me to any links/history about Cesari please?
I have seen many pieces by this signed maker but info seems to be very vague and sparce etc...

Steven.... Poor photos, but the best that I can do right now  ::)
I am still waiting for it to be delivered to me...
It's a small dish of 12.5cms diameter. Have seen these many times,
but I so wish to find out MORE about Cesari...  ::)

Sorry, no links I'm afraid. I couldn't find anything online when checking out my own pieces. I think Decelle's Opalescence shows some examples, but again without any accompanying info.

Btw. That coaster of yours is a pattern I've seen stamped Etling. However, there are other Cesari models which don't appear to match Etling patterns. Cesari was maybe just a retailer's mark.. until more evidence comes to light it's sadly impossible to say...

Many thanks Steve. Your own observations are most helpful. John.
