I've seen a couple of these pop up for sale, but I've not found any evidence to suggest that Holmegaard (or Kastrup) ever made kuttrolf decanters in red glass. But that's not to say that they didn't.
Many other factories have made these decanters, so it's often hard to pin them down to a specific maker.
-
Hi Nic.. any info on the other factories thanks for your help. Paul

Can't really think of too much that might be of help. Sorry.
I've got probably half a dozen kuttrolfs that I've not been able to firmly attribute - I think it's just one of those facts of life until some poor soul puts in the serious research time.
-
Ok thanks for your help Nic.. ps any idea where I could get a stopper to match. Paul
-
Unless you had one specially made, I would say it'd be next to impossible. The stopper would have been plain and red to match the decanter.
But if it's for your own use, and you don't mind a bit of a mis-match, then antique fairs are often inundated with boxes of loose stoppers of all shapes and sizes. They're almost always cut glass ones, but you could land lucky with a plain 'un.

Hi everyone... The possible maker could be Glimma Sweden. Paul
-
I did ponder Glimma Glasbruk when I saw the shape (the very sloped shoulders, especially), but I've not seen any 100% attributable examples in any colour other than green. so I didn't really want to make a public numpty of myself.
Did you find one?
-
Hi Nic.. there is one on ebay now that has remains of a glimma label. It looks very similar to what I have. Paul

Oh, good show! Guess I should have gone with my first instincts after all.
That's one more mystery cleared up. :)

According to Holmegaard's 1853 pricelist, they were produced both in red and blue glass. Oops.
But the one in this thread is almost certainly Glimma, rather than HG.
