Title: Caithness gold spattered vase/bowls - age and pattern name query?
Post by: jakgene on May 18, 2010, 01:16:00 PM
I bought these two recently on Ebay (from separate sellers) One Amethyst glass, one Pink glass, both heavily spattered with a gold colour and fairly heavily textured - particularly the amethyst one. The amethyst one still has a Caithness glass clear label affixed - but the printing is almost worn away - so either oldish or well washed!

They are 8 cm tall and 9 cm max diameter (around the "belly")

Have searched Scotlands Glass website and googled Caithness vase images but haven't found any pictures of them. Can anyone assist with an approximate date for them, and a design name if possible.

Thanks

JAK

They are most likely part of a Caithness Studio range - given they're not paperweights, but can't help more than that. I did see an opaque lilacy and whitish tall vase with aventurine in it a wee while ago, £5 in a charity shop, but didn't bite at the time. It was gone next time I looked.

Fairly recent I would guess. They seem to be popping up all over in various colours. I think I might have seen green one as well.

I have a backlog of hundreds, maybe thousand+++ of CG glassware to add to SG... so maybe you will get your ID before too long.
