Title: Caithness Jewellery can you help
Post by: dreamticket2 on June 08, 2006, 10:52:38 PM
I have been looking at the Caithness jewellery site- Thank you so very much for the information there.
I have an unmarked pendent which I cannot date
.
It looks to me to be more handmade.- file marks are visible on the silver metal back which seems to be covering a more rounded 'jewel'.
The few  rings etc  I have are flat backed pwt.

Most of the jewellery was not finished to the highest standard, particularly in later years.

It is possibly that yours is not silver, Caithness stopped using silver at some point because of the cash-flow with a large stock and in all the different sizes needed for rings.

More research is still needed.

Thank you Frank.
I have not been able to get it tested but it 'looks' more silver than two other unmarked or not hallmarked as silver items.
One just has C in a circle and CAITHNESS impressed.
Thank you for your help and for the web pages.
