This is a small bowl about 5 inches across. I am *assuming* it is Murano because it looks like it with a curl, and a Flip....plus all the Aventurine it is. The base has come good wear. There is some residue on the bottom.....from a Price Tag (once) or from a Label?? I might be thinking Fratelli Toso on this on, but not sure... In the second pic, you will see that there is *one* small blue streak in it. Must have gotten another color mixed in by mistake...lol
Any ideas on the maker, or the year? I love aventurine !!! :thup:

Perhaps a tad early for a bump, Rose, but I won't tell anyone. :)
However, I say yes ... Murano dish ... generic tourist ware.

Beautiful bowl, Kevin. The label that is on yours is the one I was wondering about for Rose's bowl. Looks about right.

I also have one the same I picked up for a small amount about 5 years ago. Not worth selling but useful when guests come around for nuts etc. Nice work in it, I thought it was starry night but then I saw the real thing and realised it is not like this.

Ooops! Should have put the photo of mine in. I thought it was Avem but now I don't think that is right.

Definitely Murano and a lovely piece with a good mix of Avventurine. It is a shame that these pieces were mass produced but they are lovely none the lesss

Just for extra interest, there's a fascinating thread from last year (http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,31185.msg168978.html#msg168978) about an item that had the same label as on my example bowl (or dish) shown above. (The label on my piece is the one shown in the Murano Labels gallery.)
Note how there was a line of thought related to some "major names" but then discussion settled into the generic export type of label used for items from many different makers. Just thought this might help folk to get an appreciation that this particular label seems not to have been linked to any specific maker. But I wonder (not with any really good reason) if maybe Campanella may be a candidate for our bowls?

Weren't Campanella more known for the geometric sommerso vessels, in single colour (often brown, grey, or pink) then clear glass combos? I've had a a few with Campanella labels in the past, and they've always been facetted sommerso examples. Also, Campanella are a relateively recent company (ie, post 1970), and these aventurine items seem to date to the 50s or 60s (though are probably in production still, though). I dont think it's possible to put a name to them.

Yes, Campanella were well know for that style, but they've made a wide range of styles, from millefiori to mezza filigrana.
