Title: Mdina glass candlestick 1
Post by: fatbelly on April 07, 2018, 10:08:12 AM
Hello.
Purchased two items that I thought maybe connected to M Harris. Is this a Mdina candlestick or a piece likely connected to M Harris.
The colour on this one is what I would consider typical Mdina.
Stands a tad under 6”.
The base has a snapped Pontil and measures 4”d.
Weighs 326g
Any help appreciated.

The other stick is listed separately as it’s slightly different.

Hi there,

Yes this is absolutely Mdina and an early piece. Candlesticks are hard to come by, I’ve seen blue examples like this and amethyst ones too. Even a strange yellow ochre coloured one.

Essentially the candle sticks are early Mdina, Michael Harris era definitely and they were made up to 1972, one signed and dedicated to the then president of Malta and his wife in Michaels hand and dated 1972 sold in the last few months.

They’re lovely and hard to find, great purchase.
