Hello. Newbie here glad to have found you...
Anyone know if Holmegaard ever made a pink cased Gulvase? I've been searching online and in every book I've found for months and have never seen another like mine, so either it's extremely rare (fingers crossed) or a copy (more likely)...
Thank you,
Dana

Hi Dana & welcome ;D
I am no help to you though i have the same in green.
I would like to say "i'm impressed" you have mastered the art of posting a photo, took me along, long time,it was getting quite painfull ::)

Welcome to the board. You haven't quite cracked the photos, as that's a thumbnail that doesn't blow up. Try resizing a high-res photo so that the longest dimension is 700 and that should work. We also like dimensions and base shots of your items. Pink sounds unlikely for an original but it's not my area

The proportions look a little odd, the neck appears tall in relation to the body.

I just posted a small pic so you could see the color... But I can post more if necessary... I think the neck just looks longer because of the angle of the photo (I was trying to show the white interior with a full shot of the vase)...
I really just wondered if anyone had ever seen a pink Gulvase before...
Thanks for your replies!

maybe these pics help...
Thanks again!

(and the small blue one is definitely NOT Holmegaard as it has one of those divots in the base, but I got them at different times...)

The neck looks too long to me too, I think the Italian copies have longer necks? The white showing through the base is a bit strange too! It has to be a copy I think.

eeek that colour is Chinese
-
yeah, that's what I figured, but I was hoping I got lucky for my $1 purchase... like that guy who bought a Jackson Pollack for $5... :o
or that it was at least Scandinavian made... :(
Thanks again for your replies and sharing your knowledge with a rookie!!

I picked up a gulvvase repro from TK Maxx for £6, made by Broste:

I've had a few Broste pieces (ceramic candleholders) with a label 'made in China' but the label also has Broste on. Is Broste a retailer or wholesaler?

They don't seem to say much on their website but I did find their LinkedIn page:

I guess they have their products made in China for minimum cost, maximum profit etc...
I've just peeled off all the layers of price stickers on the Broste vase and it does have a 'Made in China' sticker on it.

I think it's a Danish design house http://www.brostecopenhagen.com/default.asp?view=site&id=30

thanks :) I think many of their designs are really good. The candleholders I have are lovely. But I was a bit fazed to read 'made in China' on the label when I'd picked them up, as I thought I was buying something made in Denmark. Still bought them though.

I like this pink colour.

I rather like the pink color too, even though it's not "real"... I was going to sell it if it was made somewhere else and worth anything, but I think I'll just keep it for myself!! :)
