Title: Is this iridescent glass bottle Okra or Midsummer or something else?
Post by: chriss on September 19, 2012, 09:04:54 AM
Hi I have 3 pieces of glass from the same maker. Non of this glass was purchased new and the sellers knew nothing about their history. They are iridescent and have a broken pontil to the base of each. I once saw an identical piece of glass on ebay and the seller was adamant it was Okra but said his information came from information supplied by Okra collectors. The bottles are identical in shape and form they just have different patterns to their surface. Does anyone know anything about my glass please? Thanks :D

Not Okra, I really don't think.
What about Sanders and Wallace?

(Hmmm, maybe not, unless an older range.)
Sunderland?
Adrian Sankey?

ps
A pontil is a metal rod, it leaves a mark when it is broken off - the pontil mark. ;)
Can we ask you to please make a different thread for each single piece glass - otherwise it can get confusing about which one we're talking about. Thanks.

(I'll ask a moderator to change your titles to distinguish them from each other. :)

The pink one looks very Midsummer Glass, but no prunt  ???
Or even Heron?

Midsummer, (why do I always forget Midsummer?)
Yup, that's a good suggestion, Christine!

Hi could my darker bottle also be midsummer then please as it's the same shape, even on the base, has the same style of patterning throughout the surface of the glass, and to me, could be from the same series or at least one has heavily influenced the glass maker with the other? One is considerably darker than the other though. Both have an iridescence, though the darker one has a richer, multi coloured iridescence to it? Thanks :D

They're undoubtedly the same maker. It just that the pink with iridescence struck me as being perhaps Midsummer; it doesn't mean the other isn't.

I would agree the pink looks very much like Midsummer, this one did have the Midsummer pontil mark: https://picasaweb.google.com/Johnmj100/MiscellaneousGlass#5752082226118976306
