Davidson 340 pattern, Kaz.   May I add your photos to my Glass Trinket Sets reference site please? So far I only have the candleholder shown in this pattern. Full credit would be given of course. :)

Nice as it is, bear in mind that it is incomplete. The pot should have a lid and there should be two of them, there should also be another candlestick and a pin tray.

In their book Davidson Glass a history, Chris & Val Stewart shows the 340 set as a large tray, 2 pots, 2 candlesticks and the pintray. The text doesn't clarify if the pots were made in 2 sizes as they often were - this usually means a set was 1 large and 2 small pots, but we've no such information about the 340 as yet.  (But watch this space!  ;D)

Quite often the sets didn't all fit the tray anyhow Kaz, they would have been spread about the dressing table with the tray often holding, e.g. a hairbrush and comb or other suchlike. I remember my mother (now age 80) and grandmother using them like that. :)

Title: frosted pink set for id please. - ID = Davidson 340
Post by: Paul S. on July 25, 2012, 07:59:23 PM
apologies for being a little lazy - it's so humid this evening, and I'm sure Anne, Pamela or Jayne will know instantly from which factory this originated.            I bought the pieces as the colour seemed uncommon, and these frosted sets are without doubt very attractive.     The tray does seem very small - and guess I'm missing the sticks and a ring holder at least - and I'm more than happy if anyone wishes to use the pix.             Look forward to any replies, and thanks for the help girls. :)

Very nice Paul, you're missing 2 candlesticks yes, but you have the pin dish which tends to be an either/or with the ring holder with most sets, so you aren't missing a ring holder. :)
