Title: Empty posts
Post by: Nick77 on June 24, 2012, 10:13:55 AM
Didn't know where else to post so trying here, for some reason if I read certain posts they are completely blank when I am logged  in but are there if I log out. For instance in Poole and Paperweights "Chinese? ID Please" thread the first post does this also some of my own and others' posts?
I've tried using the report button to ask a moderator (twice) but had no response does anyone know why this should be?

I do have pop up killer on Firefox but I've always had it and being logged in or not shouldn't make any difference to the pop up killer working or not.

Rosie glad its not just me, if you log out do you see the missing posts too?

We've had this before. Anne has to sort it out for individuals. It's not happening to me.

Hmmm. I thought I had made a reply earlier but when I came back, there was no post, not just a blank post area!

Nick, I emailed you yesterday about the problem. Did you not receive it?

Anyway, as Christine has said, the blank post problem has happened before (March/Apr) and Anne added this comment about why it had happened (http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,47118.msg265122.html#msg265122) in a Cafe thread "blank post epidemic".

I suspect we have another occurrence of the same, or similar, glitch as somebody else has mentioned it in another forum.

It happens when you make certain changes to your Profile, as it also changes the language file for your profile from English to English-UTF8. If you see it please let me know and I can change the language setting back for you. It seems to be a bug and one which I can't yet find a fix for, so the only solution is my manual one. I've reset those who are having problems now.

Anyone using Firefox as a web browser should dump it. It's notoriously unstable. As for Google Chrome, eventually it will overtake your computer's ability to control it, especially laptops. Google Chrome will slowly add features you never wanted or approved. It slows down your computing ability. It spies on every keystroke and feeds data to Google and then to its advertisers. These advertisters then choke your storage with extraneous information, which are called upon by Google to feed you more data about advertisers, hogging your gigabytes . Eventually your computer will be so sluggish that you think it's on the verge of crashing. Better to use IE or Safari, depending on your computer.

That's not relevant to the issue which Nick raised in this topic.

That's good to know Rosie. With that, I can close this topic now, but will leave it awhile for reference in case anyone else has the same issue. :)
