Title: Dresser Set???
Post by: CathyG on January 08, 2006, 01:41:25 AM
I picked this set up today and wonder if anyone can tell me the maker. I think it's called a dresser or vanity set. I looked in my books but as usual, I'm confused as to who may have made it. The large bottle stands 7" tall with a dauber, the smaller bottle has a ground stopper and stands 5 1/2" tall and last, the little dish is 3"X4". All have polished pontils. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Very pretty little set, I would think most likely made by Salviati and probably from the 1930's.

CathyG - I think it is horrid.  You should stick to Blenko.  Just pack it up and send to me and I will take it off your hands

J/K Absolutely fabulous!!  I don't know who made it but I love it  :D

I think Peter got it dead right.  :)  It's a fabulous set Cathy...classy and understated...but absolutely stunning.

Lucky you!

Thanks for all your replies! I really do think it's a pretty set and my first purchase of the new year! Lets hope this is the start of good finds for me in this new year!!! I've had a rough 2005, so it can only get better...I hope!

Thanks Paul, I will look in that direction.

I hate to disagree with my friend Paul, but the 1930s filigrana pieces I've seen are thinner and lighte than this.  Furthermore, the eaerlier filigranas were not cased in clear.   I agree it could be Salviati (or Fratelli Toso, or many other companies), but I'd place it in the 1950s, when thicker glass was the norm and almost everything was cased in clear.
