Are the milk glass perfume bottles/novelty containers used by Avon for their Cosmetics made by Fostoria Glass Company, USA?
I'm sure these two tall bottles would have contained bubble bath or some such thing from Avon, but they are really pretty and I suppose could be used as candle holders. I'm not sure what the purists would think of them, but may be they'll become quite collectable one day

Anne - Those are florist bud vases. At least in the US
My Mom still has a cabinet full of them from various occasions.
I don't know which glass company that made them. Maybe Hoosier Glass.

There is a book (maybe more than one) and a following already.

Thanks Connie :P . They do look as though they've had flowers in them over a period of time judging by the insides. Goodness knows how I'll clean them  Do you have any idea of how old they could be? I've not heard of Hoosier - but will do a google

I see you've done a Hoosier bump (not a new fangled dance move  )
Thanks Frank.

The price labels say it all really.

I know they go back to at least the 1970s. I remember the milk glass ones when I was in high school. They also made them in clear. I think I might have a clear one up in the top of my kitchen cabinet

You know its amazing when you think of all the glass containers and other items put out by the Avon company. That gets one to thinking, who made all this stuff? I know of some that can be definately said to be made by Fostoria, but so much of it is just called Avon and let go.
Now one item they had produced, or I should say a range of items has always intrigued me.

I know the seller says Fenton, but I am wondering if that is just bluff. Anyone have definate proof Fenton made this? Thanks Terry

I have never seen documentation that it was made by Fenton.
It seems somewhat unlikely because it is not like any other Fenton item.
It looks more like Kanawha's work but I don't know if they made bottles for Avon either :?

I'm still googling and looking on eBay auctions - anything to do with Avon and will get back.

I couldn't find a match for the perfume mentioned, but these two sites must be worth bookmarking as references for Fenton glass.

I had a look through Avon glass listings on eBay. Lots of milk glass (different colours) and hobnail vintage style containers, as well as more modern novelty items.
This seller gives an interesting brief history of Avon and Avon glass.

It looks as though many glassmakers, including Fostoria, made the bottles/containers etc. for Avon. Some pieces are stamped AVON on the base, others have no markings. None it would seem, with the actual name of the glass company. I also came across a listing for a milk glass trinket container stamped "Made in France."
This was spotted a couple of times and described as "Avon Blue Fostoria 'George Washington' goblet made for Avon by Fostoria 1970s-80s."

Also spotted a couple of times - 2 tiered serving trays "believed to be Fenton," and pressed glass butter dishes marked Avon on the base. So not just toiletries/cosmetics.
They don't appear to go for very much money, but some pieces are really quite nice. But I don't think I'll be starting a new collection though :P

Avon has also copied/reproduced/faked at least two Victorian patterns. Quitled Phlox shakers by Northwood and Forget-me-not cruets by Challinor & Taylor are now suspect because the paper Avon label is easily removed.
