Title: Sklo Union - Jiri Brabec
Post by: Jindra8526 on October 05, 2010, 03:05:12 PM
Dear friends,
in summer I have visited with my collegue Max Velcovsky Mrs Brabcova - Mr. Jiri Brabec widow. She gave us the collection of Brabec pieces - so everything what is dispayed is surely Brabec design. I made fast pictures for my archive - here i is.

I know that everybody who likes Czech glass has Marcus Newhall's monography Sklo Union (www.sklounion.com) so please when you see the pattern you know, type the pattern number bellow the picture as the comment. I would like to do it, but I am very busy now, so when we will share the work, it will be faster than if i will browse Newhall's database alone.

Just a notice - this collection does not cover complete all designs made bz Brabec for Rosice - Sklo Union, but the most surely.

It is here:

Thank you

Jindrich

What a fantastic display, seeing so much work from one designer, in one form of glass, makes it all the more impressive to see.

thanks Jindra!

Beautiful photos - thank you!

I collect Sklo Union glass - vases mostly but also bowls.  I have a vase which isn't on there but in my opinion is one of the most gorgeous pieces of Sklo Union glass (next to pattern no 482 Rosice 1968 Jiri Brabe, raised geometric design,  which is stunning).  It was also designed by Jiri Brabec, so I thought I'd post it here.  Pattern no 5122 180mm Rosice 1969, exhibited CLS, Gottwaldov 1972.  Catalogue no 155 'Barolac' Hand pressed (Source - Sklo Union Art Before Industry).  It is a parallelogram shape.
I have it in amber, but I have also seen it in amethyst (in both books) and turquoise.
I think I have also seen it in a larger size than the 180mm mentioned in both Marcus's book and Mark Hill's Hi Sklo Lo Sklo (page73)?  So does it come in a taller size as well  do you know?
