Title: Marc Aurel
Post by: Anne on October 15, 2006, 03:12:38 AM
Does anyone know the origins of Marc Aurel glass please? From what I've read on the Riedel website it seems Marc Aurel is a trademark of Nachtmann, and that Nachtmann now belongs to Riedel. Was Marc Aurel always a part of Nachtmann or was it a separate company before Nachtmann acquired it? Googling for Marc Aurel brings up lots of archaelogist sites and a cafe but precious little glass.

it is a fantasy brand name coined by Nachtmann for machine made tableware designed by Heinz Frisch.

Thanks Ivo, I was hoping that you'd know the answer. :)  I bought a pretty little amethyst offset-based vase yesterday with a Marc Aurel sticker and etched stamp on the base and was just wondering where it may have originated. I'll add it to my Nachtmann collection then.
