Title: Mandruzzato 1970s vase?
Post by: aslan7 on October 16, 2009, 05:56:31 PM
Greetings. I am new to Murano collecting, having been a Flygsfors fan, and am interested to know if the vase at the end of the link below is Mandruzzato. It seems to be very well made and I doubt the Seguso attribition although similar things have been attributed to Flavio Poli. Thanks very much, rt

I'd call that generic panel cut , not attributable to any of the names mentioned or even to Murano. Might as well be east German or Belgian or Swedish...

I agree with Ivo. I would also add that Sommerso by definition, would involved the use of at least 2 distinct color layers of glass, and unless I am missing something, the piece is solid amethyst.

I would consider that particular description to be a fine example of creative writing....  Not one you would find in the non-fiction category at your library...

Thanks very much--perhaps I'll stick to Flygsfors where the signature/inscription makes things clearer. rt

No reason to stick to one..... Learning is at least half the fun.......  That is why most of us are here on this board....  regardless of how much, or how little you know, there is always something new to learn.

The key is to be careful, ask lots of questions, read books, and look here for all the help you need as there is a huge group here gladly willing to be of assistance.
