There was a question here a while ago about a piece marked M inside C but unable to find that post. Bizarre to say the least. So would it be Cristallerie Montbronn after all? It would be a bit strange to adapt the same logo of the M inside the C - I think I'll just shut up.

I knew about the CM for Cristales Mexicanos (they are now part of Grupo Vitro) - we have written quite a bit about them in "Century" - but I didn't reply at the time 'cos the trademark said FRANCE. I assumed it was another maker.
Weird, huh?

I sent them the mark asking for confirmation.

Thanks, all. Sounds like you're getting close!

We need a picture of the goblets now please.
Response from Cristallerie de Montbronn:
Subject: Re: our Trade Mark
Dear Sir,
Thank you for mail and request. I wonder about your photo regarding our Trade Mark.
Of course, this is NOT our Trade Mark logo, despite the C and M from Cristallerie de Montbronn are on.
Could you please inform me where you found this "signature" ?
Do you have some of those items with this signature ?
What are you dealing with ?
Here our web site for your guidance : www.cristallerie-montbronn.com
Awaiting hearing from you by soon,
Kind regards,

Also could try Cristallerie de Megeve, and Cristallerie Montreuil.
May have others shortly

Frank,
Finally got the pic of the goblet. Also, was able to get a fairly clear pic of the mark. Thanks again for the help.

Hello Mr. Andrews,
Thank you for mail and link to the photo.
I had a look on them and I confirm that this is not from us, "Cristallerie de Montbronn France".
It seems to be in glass and in enamel and quite an old piece.
It is a "Mazagran" = coffee tumbler and Meisenthal makes them.
May by it could be from "Cristal or Cristallerie de Meisenthal" an old glass factory here
in the area. Gallé had work there in his time. Now there is only a Museum, because this
glass plant is closed since quite a long time (over 50 years).

One eliminated and a new one to find :)

Frank, you are THE MAN! Many, many thanks.

Meisenthal ceased production in 1969, but I'm not sure it ever was a cristallerie.
Could also have been made for the Crédit Mutuel, of course....
there seems to be a huge difference in factory production practice between a verrerie where they make sodalime glass, and a cristallerie where lead crystal is produced. And it seems to be an either/or choice - few factories produce both (at least not at the same location).

Many thanks for the info, Ivo.
