I've never come across this shape anywhere - it sits on three small round feet so presents as though it is floating - delighted with it.
Enjoy

are you near the south coast m?
I passed up on its twin brother and a matching pin tray a few weeks ago because they were so badly damaged :-\
I wonder if yours is part of that same set and if the tray/ candlesticks are lurking somewhere ???
cheers!

Hi Mel
no I'm not. This one isn't badly damaged either - thank goodness. It has two tiny chips one on the lid one on the bowl. I have another box that has more chips. These are rare to find and they often have small chips on presumably because they are heavy, the lids are easily dropped onto the bases and the glass has 'seams and edges' which make them more susceptible to being chipped. I have another piece that is perfect but it's a different shape, a perfume -

that's a lovely perfume too but its the red and black that does it for me ;D
-
Love the pefume too, both are absolutely stunning!

The red and black is gorgeous but have you actually seen a yellow piece in real life? they are utterly stunning. Somewhere on the board Craig has a yellow decanter. I also had a lavender blue decanter set but sold it as I couldnt' make it fit in with any of my collections. The colour was superb but just not 'my' colour.
Oops so sorry Jayne - our posts crossed and my question was directed at Mel. Thanks for your comments though :)
Thanks all for your nice comments :) Keith they sit well with my coloured art deco Bohemian pieces, but they are completely different in construction and to hold in the hand.
I love them for lots of reasons: They are dense glass and very heavy; the aventurine is amazing, perfectly glittery; and I think they were innovative designs and construction - I've not seen anything like them from elsewhere.

yep can understand that m, yellow is just not 'my' colour yuk yuk yuk, not just glass - clothes, cars, flowers etc lol
-
funny isn't it, I can't stand yellow flowers but all of my glass displays have a piece of yellow in them.

And trinny and susannah (some self-appointed reality show "style-gurus") have been known to say that you should never, ever put red and black together.....
so you know for sure it's both excellent taste and timeless style. ;D
