I received this set as a birthday gift and it is truly stunning. Purchased out of an estate I have been unable to to locate anything similar to it. Done in a combination of a gorgeous light aqua blue with the most delicate controlled bubble pattern, the set is really quite outstanding.
The decanter body is octagonal, as are the feet on all of the glasses and the clear stopper. The decanter measure 10.5 inches to the top of the body, and 14.5 inches to the top of the stopper. It is 3.5 inches in diameter. The glasses are 5.5 inches tall, 2.5 inches in diameter at the mouth and 1.75 inches in diameter at the foot. All bottoms are flat ground and polished, and one glass and the decanter are marked with an acid stamp.
Any info as to line name, age etc would be greatly appreciated.

Very attractive set.
The colours and bubbles do remind of pieces by Milan Metelak for Harrachov; and I vaguely remember seeing a cut piece in that style, too.
I can't help with the Ceska mark; here is a thread (http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,5809.0.html)with a vase most likely from the 1970s, with a similar mark (otherwise I would have thought that the mark would indicate rather recent Czech Republic production).

Cesky was one of the leading makers of cut tableware, part of the Bohemia empire.
current state of affairs: see here

Remarkable that the shop remains in that condition, I bet a trip into factory would have been remarkable to!

Here is a >> link (http://picasaweb.google.com/Jindra8526/Glasrevue19873?authkey=Gv1sRgCLCwytrc68bOlgE#5559003264932648002) to Czech Glass Revue on Jindrich's site, showing some vases by Metekal for Harrachov which look very similar to your decanter.
Is Ceska the same as Cesky Crystal?

Thoses vases were also in one of the Sypka Czech glass auctions, and the catalogue cited CGR 1967/4, showing your decanter + glasses (http://picasaweb.google.com/Jindra8526/Glasrevue19674?authkey=Gv1sRgCN-jnIqthpP_Nw#5443707677098730274) :)
So Milan Metelak for Harrachov it is, PN 7/3032

Wow, well spotted, Michael! :)
But I'm a little confused... why is 'Ceska' on the piece if it's Harrachov? Who/what was Ceska?
-
I don't know about that Ceska mark ???
I would suspect that it is probably some export mark for the American market, and hasn't got much to do with Cesky Crystal (which was -- if I remember correctly -- another name for Chlum u Trebone glassworks).

Same here. Ceske, Ceska, Cesko and Cesky are different forms of the same word - meaning Czech. But when and why, we'll just have to wait for a Cesko speaker...
-
Absolutly correct.
Český is adverb.
He - Český muž (Czech gentleman)
She - Česká žena (Czech woman)
It - České sklo (Czech glass)
So easy it is

Grammar aside, it still doesn't explain why 'Ceske' is etched into the bottom... I highly doubt it's a reference to Czechoslovakia.
-
I can only guess: if you search ebay.com for "Ceska", you get 45 results (mostly cut lead crystal) with an etched mark, while there is not a single piece with this mark on German ebay (nor have I ever run across any pieces marked this way).
This listing sounds quite interesting, an advertising brochure by Ceska from 1984 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/INTRODUCTORY-FOLIO-PRICE-LISTS-FOR-CESKA-GLASSWARE-CRYSTAL-INTRO-IN-USA-1984-/170880688566?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27c94861b6).
So I still would think this was sort of an export brand name...
-
It was a trademark of Czeska Art Glass Inc., which seems to have been a New York based company and may now be this one http://www.ceska.com/
I would guess an importer's mark
-
I have added some new pics of the set I took. They show the work much better than the quick ones I took to get it posted.
-
Would a mod be so nice as to put the ID in the header for reference?

Interestingly some of these pieces sold by Ceska were Moser.
Looking deeper Ceska offices were at 41 Madison Ave, NY in 1984. Show rooms in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Dallas. They imported the products of 24 'studios' including Moser, Bohemia (hmmm), Exbor, Harrachov, Zelezny Brod, Jablonec.
Novy Bor animals sold from $100 to $500
Janku Animals (Has anyone got these) were a cheaper range $25 to $150
Moser was sold from $30 to $3000
Other ranges were $12 to $395

Thanks Frank..... Interesting information....
