What's the base finish on the Gulvvase please , does it have a pontil or am i correct in thinking not ?
-
I had a turquoise uncased one, no pontil mark. But I don't know if that is always the case. I thought they didn't have :-\

Mine (https://picasaweb.google.com/107330317087089352634/Scandinavian?authkey=Gv1sRgCNy85ueHjuiBXw#5617618525897912146) -- no pontil mark whatsoever, smooth, slightly indented base.

None of several I handled had a pontil mark. :)

Thanks guys just as i thought , they are holding one for me at the local charity shop .

Just a little info John - courtesy of Miller's - should it be of use.
I believe that the cased opaque two coloured examples are the most sought after - with red over white heading the list, possibly - and remember that with these things size does count ;) Transparent colours included cobalt blue, brown and olive green. However - and something I didn't know - is that these things were also made in the UK, during the late 1970's, by a company called Cascade Glass (?) - in colours of: kingfisher blue, colourless, pewter grey and smokey topaz. Needless to say the British examples fetch only a fraction of the Danish/Brauer pieces.
Do you recall the colour of the charity shop example??
-
Paul there is more information on the board somewhere about the pieces produced at Cascade to the Brauer design. I think Nic did a very good explanation somewhere. I hope I remembered that right :-\

thanks m - I'm a great advocate of the Board's search facility, usually - but I was being impatient, and remembered that I had some of this information in a book which was to hand. However, to be honest, I did not know we had a good input from Nic - so thanks for that. I did once have two or three of these vases, but have now parted with them, but they do look good, and hopefully still fetch reasonable money.

It's okay - I supplied the Miller's info too. :24: Although, typically, the small details got a little distorted en route to press.
But, yup, no pontil marks is standard. Although, from memory, a lot of the copyists are similarly finished.

Well not much risk at three quid .

Jealous at 3 quid ...I had to pay $330 for mine, which seems to be the average price in Aussie dollars for these. Good score jp.
