Title: Lace twist circle
Post by: Tony G on August 08, 2012, 04:31:15 PM
Hi,
just bought this and I'm not sure how common this is but I have not seen one before and cannot find the design in the Whitefriars catalogues (the cut is a brick cut and quite common). Whitefriars made plenty of lace twist radials but this cicular lace twist is unusual.

Any chance of a picture of the base?

Hi, will post one when I pick it up from the auction house. They assure me it has a standard Whitefriars button with no engraving to the base, i.e. no "S" for shop or second.

cheers,

Hi Kev,
attached are my own pictures of the Whitefriars lace twist circle. It uses bundles of rods similar to another weight I have from 1972 except that the small centre green bundle goes all the way through the dark blue base. The cutting works well with the circle (hexagon) of lace twists creating extra circular images. Not sure why Whitefriars would not use this design generally as it is very effective.

Cheers,
