Title: Inny and outy cased vase with graduation of colour
Post by: Tigerchips on February 21, 2006, 01:39:58 AM
I don't have a clue who made this vase (just for a change).
There's a lot of ware to the base so it's probably not that new. It's 8.75 inches high and it goes Outy and Inny and Outy and Inny, etc, etc.
It's even got an Inny and Outy base rather than the usual round one.
It's quite heavy and she has a graduation of colour near the base which is caused by the thickness of the glass, probably.

Any help very welcome, thank you.  :)

No idea who made it, except it looks sort of Scandinavian to me, TC, but I'd call it a bamboo vase with all those innies and outies. :)

I agree, it does look Scandinavian. It's the graduation to the base that puzzles me. I know Pinkspoons said that Holmegaard has a graduation to the base (i think). The casing is probably not white enough for Holmegaard though.  :)

Some Holmegaard colours seemed to be pretty susceptible to gradation - blue, mostly. Reds and yellows always seem to be consistantly coloured, though.

But you're right,  it's not a HG piece. I'm sure I've seen this vase before, though - I just can't remember where. Sorry.  :(

But there have been a few threads about bamboo vases on here in the past - see if a search yields anything.

I searched for Alsterfors, Aseda and Bamboo before posting but no luck though.  :(

I can't think of anyone else.  :)

I suspect it is a new piece made in India, Poland or Romania so you can google until you drop but will not find it. Bamboo has been a very fashionable theme in home furnishing, think black and white duvet covers with japanese characters and pebble fountains.

I'm glad I don't pay too much for my glass (sigh).

I could use it as a spagetti holder.  :D
