hi any help would be great,i saw a similar vase in andy mcconnels book but that one only had one hoop.it is a smokey brown and is cased.it measures 9" tall.
it is very heavy for the size of it could be lead crystal.

Better late than never I hope... I think this is a Caithness vase attributed to Domhnall Obroin. There is a shorter version on the bottom left hand of page 358 of Charles Hajdamach's book '20th Century British Glass'. I bought a similar vase in May in the north of Scotland and think I've finally figured out what it is :)

Cylindrical Ring Vase - Domhnall Õ Broin c1961. Short lived design can probably be described as rare.
Marie could you take some pictures of yours on a plain background for Scotland's Glass please, including base.
