Title: Glass rummer for ID / date please
Post by: user9318 on October 25, 2012, 12:43:38 PM
I wish to find the age of a glass rummer, whether it is an 19th century (Georgian or Victorian) one or a 20th century copy.

The glass has a very slight convex pontil with what may be tool marks present.

There are bubbles within the glass in places.

The stem is panelled.

15cm tall x 6.9cm top rim diameter x 7.5cm foot diameter

I see something very similar in the 1900 Holmegaard catalogue as "port glass" - and apparently, in 1915 it is still there. I don't think you can think of these as 20th century copies. They have been in production & fashion for a long time, they are sturdy and functional. Similar glasses have been produced all over Europe, styles varied little. The Holmegaard ones are just better documented LOL.
