Title: Vasart vases. Signature ground out I think.
Post by: david31162 on September 28, 2009, 06:26:23 PM
I think these are Vasart. They look like the ones illustrated on Frank's site. Just wondered what happened to the base. I'm sure I can make out a signature which has been almost completely ground out by the levelling of the foot ring. Do you think these are seconds? Is it a case of poor handwriting deleted...or am I imagining text?
The height of these is 11cm.

Hi
I agree that they are Vasart. I have a couple of small (10cm high) Vasart vase with the base polished down and part of the signiture missing due to the base being polished. Which leads me to believe they were signed first then polished for stability.

Thanks Gary,
That's what I thought must have happened. Seems an odd way of going about things though.
