Hi,

I would like some information from those of you who are lucky enough to own a Selkirk 'fruit basket' (an early lampwork weight). Can you tell me what is engraved on the base of the weight?

Hi Stephen,

No, this is not the one ;). As I understand, there is no marking at all on the base of this weight. Also, the leaves are mostly collapsed and do not form a proper basket and I think that there are fewer fruits. It may be a trial weight or (more likely IMHO) a second (there is quite a large bubble...). However, this is what prompted my question as I realised that I do not know the limited ed. for this weight, nor what is engraved on its base [Generally, Selkirk is quite consistent and put all the information on the base but now and then there is a lapse - I have seen one (and heard of another) blue bells weight with only Selkirk glass Scotland even though these were limited editions and both had a certificate to prove it].

Edition size was 200 - catalogue image below.

BTW - I got one of those Bluebells - not signed at all, but a minute PH cane in the base: bought directly from Selkirk with certificate.

Hi Wolf,

Yes, the bluebells weight I saw was enscribed Selkirk glass Scotland (I think) and nothing else but there was a certificate too... I have always wondered whether the nature of the weight was reason for that specific edition not to be enscribed fully or at all (it is a clear glass weight).
