Probably not the prettiest design but it's my first so.... ::),seems to be a three part mould with applied feet,few nibbles ;D

mmmm, err well I want to say well done :) but I avoid these :ooh: I don't think there is anyway of positioning that vase that isn't ....inappropriate :24:
but nevertheless - well done :sun: and mind you, I'm the one who loves the pink cameo vase that Sue thinks looks like a behind in fishnets ;D

My dearest said it can't stay down stairs and has exiled it to 'my computer room' with all the other unsuitable bits and pieces,I quite like pink(and fishnets :-[)

The wee small hours are when the Americans and the Australians come on board, and some of the items on eBay finish at odd hours of the night , and I am not gonna miss them....well that's my excuse anyway Keith, what's yours?? (and don't say 'a pint of Lager please')

So Peat Bog Monster it is then....and less of the 'Old Mom'.....we ladies are always young, even young enough to stay up until the wee small hours!
Back to the vase before we get Café'd.......what makes you think it is Welz??

The three-ball base seems to be quite typical for Welz. See Craig's (and others?) site on Bohemian Glass for examples.
I have a pair with spiraling pinchwork up the body and in yellow-white spatter glass. The yellow-white spatter colour scheme has had a bit of discussion in the Board, and I think most if us here are now aware that it does not specifically mean it's Moser - even if some eBay sellers might still like that idea.

Actually Keith, it is 'Peat Monster Malt Whisky'....we just add the 'bog' bit for a laugh :chky:.....and in all honesty, I think it is a blend of two different whiskies, rather than a single malt......considered an aquired taste!
I just collected a Komaromy piece from the seller, so am on cloud nine again.

Below are some photos of my pair of vases mentioned earlier. They are 19cm (7.5 inch) height and 6.4 cm (2.5 inch) across the ball base section.
The ribbing on these is different from Keith's example. There are 15 ribs around the balls and each ball has a nodule, or nipple, at the outer junction of the ribs. The neck has alternating, raised "plain" and "close placed nodule" lines.
It might be interesting for someone to make a study of these types of item to see how many variations of ribbing could be found and to consider whether the variations are in fact all by Weltz.

Rosie, I could have used all sorts of other words, but the basics seemed best.
Keith, if our vases have 15 ribs and if Collectors Weekly state that "16 ribs is a marker for Welz", should we think ours are not Welz or that Collectors Weekly just forgot to allow for variations and the point that probably every company that made moulded decorative glass also used a 16-rib mould at some time???
Additional input:
1. The necks of my yellow-white vases have 18 ribs but set in a 9-sided shape - 9 plain ribs form the edges of each section and the 9 raised nodule ribs lie in the centre of each "flattened" side.
2. I have another vase with the same neck and base ribbing structure but without the pinchwork and it has a differing style foot. The neck and base are in clear glass and have the same ribbing structures but the neck is rounded, not 9-sided.
3. I can only find one mould line on the base section - on the top half only of one of the balls! I can't work out how the mould would have been used.

Or collectors weekly got it wrong? I've a couple of other diagonal ribbed pieces that may be related,or not ::)

Since I was still awake (at 2:30am) I had another look at Craig's Kralik-glass (http://www.kralik-glass.com/frametemplate.html) website, specifically the Welz Decor Index section and the entry for "Welz Ribbed Feet".
Looks like my thoughts about the Collectors Weekly article should not have been quite so questioning, as I guess the comment about the 16-rib form being "a marker" for Welz was actually taken from Craig's web page (or the same initial source info). But perhaps my questioning was ok, as Craig's site has the "marker" comment following the sentence about the three-ball shape, and maybe it is that which is the "marker", rather than the number of ribs?
By studying enlarged views of the examples shown in Craig's site, all of the six items shown have a 16-rib form to the ball section. So, even though I may have been a bit quick to question the 16-rib comment in the article, I come back to the interesting point about mine and Keith's vases having a 15-rib form for the ball sections.
What does it mean?

Would be interesting to see what Craig thinks,there was a yellow diagonal ribbed vase in the same cabinet I got the pink piece from,very much the same decor as your vases except this one had ..er..no balls,moving quickly on I wish I'd bought that one also ;D
