Title: Boda Frost - Caviar Anyone?
Post by: David555 on October 04, 2005, 06:59:58 PM
Boda Frost – The Height of Luxury - LOL

4.25” diam, 3.25” high – two separate parts in original box with all cardboard separators and fittings (has kept them undamaged) – clear glass bowl with simple ‘Handmade Boda Sweden’ label and heavy frosted well that fits on top – a bit of fun really as the picture on box shows they were used for caviar – you filled the bowls with crushed ice and the frosted well sat on top “mmmmmmm”

Designer – Signe Persson-Melin – 1960’s early 70s

Anyone else got similar bits of unpractical designer glass LOL

Excellent item for serving shrimp cocktail, potato or egg salad - things that the health inspector would sample with priority. Not at all an uncommon item. The bowl is usually made from borosilicate glass. I have one with a diameter of 8" - obviously for use in a buffet.

8" Ivo

I can't stretch to that - but if I put these two together I get 9"

It's not often you see a Boda label.
The name change to Kosta Boda came in 1976 so definately prior to that.
I love the way the Swedes gave names to the item as well as designer names, on the box, even on glassware, even that far back. That attention to detail will continue to help collectability.
