I can't find anything by Schneider that looks even vaguely similar to this. Is it a fake signature do you think, or can someone place it to a model and approx age? It is not very big approx. 5 ins to the highest peak. Nearly 2kg in weight so very heavy for its size.
It was sold as frosted, but the outside was covered with a greasy dirt film that washed off with washing up liquid on a sponge, leaving a smooth crystal outside although it still seems to have some sort of texture in places and I don't want to scrub in case I will mess it up. The inside has some fine texture, but this may just be wear.
any help gratefully received.
thanks

Hi
me again
It looks a bit like a post war Schneider piece, but if you look up the signature in the Edith Manonni book - the S in the siganture is wrong -the lower tail should point up -in every case.
So I think its not a piece of Schneider
Cheers

Oh dear, That was supposed to be the crown in my little haul...
maybe something else will come out of the woodwork to take its place then,
I see exactly what you mean about the initial S - the rest of the signature looks fine, but the S.....
Have you seen the shape anywhere Mike?

Signature is Ok, but it is the son in Loiret. 1962-81.
See here for another labelled example I have http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,5502.msg54958.html#msg54958

In which case I (and by unfair inferrence Edith Manonni) stand corrected
but please blame me - her book Schneider is wonderful -it just might be missing some very recent signatures
sorry
Mike

Thank you so much Frank! I feel much better about the vase now. Even if it is the son.
Which as this is the first piece of Schneider I have ever come across, doesn't make it any worse in my book.
I can't find any value comparison anywhere - rather than give any sort of specific value, what sort of glass would you put it in with in terms of market value?

I've popped a query about the model no. on the Schneider forum, I'll report back if I get a result.
Thanks for mentioning the forum Frank, I should have thought of the possibility of that earlier. I had been to the site, but not noticed the forum.

Value would be on par with any modern art glass of the period, so nothing to get excited about. I doubt many 'original' Schneider collectors are interested although a few will be.
